Christmas eve matches in the EPL were a normal occurrence until the mid 90s, boxing day matches remain a tradition till date. Although other European leagues do not hold games during the Christmas holidays, the English FA insists that these matches are a good source of revenue for many clubs as the holiday season allows fans to watch the games in stadia or on TV.
I doubt the Christmas eve matches will be postponed this season but if there is enough opposition from fans, players amd clubs alike, then it might be discontinued next season.
