Sunday’s drab 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford means United have lost five of their opening 10 league games, scoring just 11 goals. Their Champions League campaign hasn’t been much better, with Ten Hag’s side anything but assured of qualification after just one win from their opening three matches.
The Dutchman looked to have the Red Devils heading in the right direction after a 2022-23 campaign that saw them lift the League Cup and finish third in the league. However, it’s been a pretty catastrophic start to 2023-24, with United needing a major turnaround to improve their fortunes.
But would sacking Ten Hag be the right decision or should he be given more time to put things right? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Manchester United would need to cough up more than £15million to sack Erik ten Hag.
While the Dutch head coach’s job is not currently at risk, pressure is ramping up after their dismal start to the season was compounded by Sunday’s derby thrashing at the hands of Manchester City at Old Trafford.
I don’t think sacking him would be beneficial to the club. Mikel Arteta also had a poor start to life at Emirate stadium but few years after he’s competing for the league title. Besides, who does the club’s executives have in mind to replace Ten Hag? Can they be certain of an immediate turn of fortune under a replacement? I don’t think so. They have many young and new players who’re just settling into life in England, they’ll need some time to get on good footing.
i think he should be given more time to put things right because sacking him won’t be the best solution
